Description
|
|
The Proteomics Facility at IR-HUVH has been offering its services since 2004 to many research groups in the Hospital, within the ISCIII Cancer Research Network (RTICCC), and from other research centers. As a consequence of being located next to a big hospital, our facility has particular expertise on working with human samples, both on basic and clinical biomedical research topics. The laboratory is equipped with MALDI-TOF/TOF and ESI-IT mass spectrometers from BRUKER, and collaborates with this company as reference laboratory for proteomic applications. Our facility offers also a specialized service in the DIGE technology. On the other hand, the laboratory conducts its own research project on the proteomic characterization of substrates of metalloproteases involved in tumoral progression.

Description

The Proteomics Platform has been giving support for both public and private research groups since 2002. We offer the possibility to perform complete proteomics studies to the scientific community at the University of Barcelona and Barcelona Science Park and to other Spanish and international researchers.
We are equipped with systems to run 1-D and 2-D electrophoresis, robotic workstation to perform automatic excision of spots and in-gel digestion. Two tandem mass spectrometers (MALDI-TOF/TOF, Applied Biosystems and ESI-Q-TOF, Micromass) allow for protein identification by peptide-fingerprinting and/or peptide sequencing. The Q-TOF is coupled to a CapLC to run online nanoLC-nanoESI-MS/MS. We have a Probot (LC-Packings) that allows for analysis via LC-MALDI.

The proteomic unit is placed at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona. This unit is associated with the proteomic unit located at the Parc Cientific de Barcelona forming a Proteomic Platform which also includes the Institut d'Investigacions Biomediques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS).
Researches from biological sciences, medical schools, hospitals and pharmaceutical industries are potential customers.
