ProteoRed members participating in the UPS-Sigma Aldrich contest:
CONCLUSIONS
- The percentage of ProteoRed labs that took part of the SIGMA-Aldrich UPS 2006 has been≥ 80%.
- Based on previous experience, most of the analysis followed a LC-based approach instead of a gel-based approach.
- ProteoRed global results show a significant increase in the number of protein identifications. The number of missidentifications also increased (apparently).
- The number of identifications increased slightly when several search engines were used.
- The type of instrument used apparently did not biased significantly the results described by the participants. Only those fingerprint-based approaches seemed to obtain worst results.
